In this passage experpted from " An Education in Citizenship", it states that the House of Illinios has recently passed a bill that would allow young people who are non-citizen to pay in-state tuition rate at the colleges and Universities. In the fifth paragraph the author states that "why will we charge legal citizens from the other states more for tuition than we charge the non-citizen immigrants". I compeletly agree.
It is totally unfair for legal students to have to pay more money for college tuitions while illegal students get to pay the half amount of the tuition and get the same level of education. This would be unjust to the citizens of the U.S. Since the federal taxes that the parents of legal citizens pay help support the Pell Grants and other loan options that is being provided for the illegal students in Illinios. Than why should the legal students have to pay more money for education while their parents are helping the department of education?
A very close friend of mine is a citizen and he is attending a highly reputative college out state. His parents have paid so much money for the education of their son. He recently found out that some of his classmates are not paying as much as he is because they are not legal in the U.S. Which is absurd! All along we have been believing that being a citizen of the United States gives you more benifits but in this case its the other way around. This quesions the governement and the law makers.
Therefore, the bill that the House of Illinios have passed seems unfair to the citizens. It really doesnt make sense why should they get to pay more than the illegal immigrants.

Hey there, i couldn't find your practice 1 essay so i'm only writing a feedback to the one i see.
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion, i think you did good in your thesis, because you actually have all the right elements you were suppose to do, for example your introductory sentence, publication, main idea and agreement to the article are all there which you followed direction. Although i believe you can do much better if you took your time. You could definitely work a little more n the first body paragraph, but the second one you had a great example and development. And i totally agree with your point.
